John will always be remembered for being a wonderful Son, Brother, Husband, and Dad, who loved nothing more than spending time with his family and close friends.
One of John’s biggest passions in life was Rugby League.
John attended St Cuthberts school and it was there that his rugby talent started to shine through.
On the pitch John was relentless, never taking a backward step, winning at all costs, but off the pitch he was a different man, caring, thoughtful, what you might call a ‘big softie’.
Over the years John, his wife Angela and their children Megan and Ryan loved to travel with family and friends and the memories and special times shared are priceless and will be treasured forever. John and Angela were looking forward to the next chapter in their lives, but this wasn’t to be.
In May 2021 John’s speech became slurred when he was tired, and he started to have twitches in his arms and legs and experienced trouble when swallowing.
On the 14th October 2021 John and his family’s world fell apart when he was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease after visiting the GP in September 2021.
Throughout John’s MND journey the MND Association were a constant support in particular Joan and Cris Hoskin (volunteers who have also been impacted by the terrible disease).
Support was provided in various forms as well as financial support to fit a stairlift, a specialist chair, a specialist bed which is something John and Angela were extremely grateful for.
John’s Wife Angela together with their children now feel ready to give something back to the MND community, supporting the MND South Lancs Branch. They will be arranging various events with all proceeds going to the MNDA. Funds will support local families who are and have been impacted by MND to make their MND journey a little easier.
Thank you so much to each and every one of you.
